The National Football League recently released information regarding the performance-based pay program, revealing that several players will be receiving additional bonuses for their outstanding performances. Among those set to receive a nice boost in pay is San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

Purdy, who earned his first Pro Bowl selection and made his first Super Bowl appearance in the 2023 season, will see his total salary increase from $889,253 to $1.629 million, thanks to an additional $739,795 in pay. This increase in earnings is a testament to Purdy’s impressive performance on the field.

As the 2024 season approaches, Purdy is set to surpass the $1 million mark in base salary for the first time. Due to the performance-based pay program’s calculation of playing time versus salary, Purdy will likely continue to earn additional sums through the remainder of his rookie contract. Despite being the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has exceeded expectations and proven his worth.

In addition to Purdy, guard John Simpson was also highlighted for receiving a significant pay increase through the program. Simpson, a 2020 fourth-round pick, will be taking home $974,613, nearly doubling his compensation from the previous season. This increase in earnings reflects Simpson’s rising value in the league, as he recently signed a lucrative two-year, $12 million deal with the New York Jets after a season with the Baltimore Ravens.

Other notable players included in the top 25 for additional pay were Eagles safety Reed Blankenship, Dolphins corner Kader Kohou, Chiefs guard Trey Smith, Seahawks corner Tariq Woolen, Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard, and Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland. These players have all been rewarded for their outstanding performances on the field during the 2023 season.

The performance-based pay program serves as a valuable incentive for players to continue performing at a high level and showcases the league’s recognition of their efforts.
