Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found himself in an unexpected football beef with retired New York Giants legend Eli Manning.

Manning took to social media to challenge Mahomes over the true value of his championship ring collection in a fiery video.

In the video, Manning pointed out that while Mahomes may have one more Super Bowl ring than him, Manning has a different kind of championship ring.

Manning is part owner of NJ/NY Gotham FC, the defending NWSL Champion, and the team’s success earned him the ring he flaunted in the video.

The beef between Manning and Mahomes extended beyond football as Gotham FC is set to face off against Kansas City Current in its home opener on Sunday, April 14th.

Mahomes responded to Manning’s challenge on Twitter, expressing excitement for the upcoming match. The Mahomes family recently attended Kansas City Current’s home opener against the Portland Thorns at the newly opened CPKC Stadium.

The stadium, the first of its kind specifically built for a professional women’s sports franchise, was partly funded by Mahomes himself.

While Mahomes has yet to secure a championship ring with the KC Current, the city’s previous women’s soccer team, FC Kansas City, won the NWSL Championship in 2014 and 2015.

The involvement of prominent figures like Manning and Mahomes in supporting women’s sports is a positive development for the industry.

With the recent surge in viewership for women’s sports, fueled by events like Caitlin Clark’s record-breaking performance and heightened attendance for USWNT games, the momentum continues to grow.
