Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has shut down trade rumors by expressing his commitment to the team during his youth football camp in Las Vegas.
Adams stated, “If I wanted to be gone, I’d be gone by now. This is where I want to be.”
Adams was acquired by the Raiders in 2022 in a blockbuster trade that involved first- and second-round picks and a lucrative five-year, $140 million contract. The move reunited Adams with his college teammate and close friend Derek Carr. Despite a rocky start under former head coach Josh McDaniels, Adams had an impressive first season in Vegas, recording 1,515 yards and a league-high 14 touchdowns.
Speculation arose last offseason when Carr was benched and later released that the Raiders might part ways with Adams. However, the star wideout’s numbers dipped in 2023 to 1,144 yards and 8 touchdowns. Adams credited the hiring of Antonio Pierce as head coach for rejuvenating the team’s morale and improving the overall operation in Vegas, which influenced his decision to stay.
With three years remaining on his contract, 2024 marks the final year of guaranteed money for Adams, whose cap number will increase significantly in the following two years. Despite the financial implications, Adams is focused on helping the Raiders succeed and build on the positive changes within the organization.
