The Houston Texans are gearing up for the upcoming season with high expectations after a series of impressive offseason moves.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans remains unfazed by the heightened expectations, emphasizing that the team’s focus is on hard work and improvement.
Ryans made it clear that external expectations do not affect the team’s approach, stating, “For us, when everyone is really striving and putting the work in to be better. And that’s what it’s all about. We don’t care about expectations. Talk doesn’t win games. We have to go out and play good football when that time comes.”
One of the key acquisitions that has raised expectations for the Texans is the trade for star receiver Stefon Diggs. Despite some concerns about Diggs’ performance late last season, Ryans expressed excitement about adding a proven playmaker to the team.
The Texans also made headlines with other significant moves, including signing Danielle Hunter to a lucrative deal, acquiring linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, re-signing tight end Dalton Schultz, and trading for running back Joe Mixon. These moves, combined with the emergence of quarterback C.J. Stroud and promising edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., have positioned the Texans as a formidable team heading into the 2024 season.
Despite the buzz surrounding the team, Ryans maintains a laser focus on the task at hand, stating, “We’re always hunting. That doesn’t change for us. We’re always hunting. Expectations on the outside, whatever they may be, it really doesn’t change who we are.”
With a strong roster and a determined mindset, the Texans look poised to make a statement in the AFC in the upcoming season.
