American football tight end, Thomas James Hockenson was drafted in the first round (eighth selection overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He played college football at Iowa.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2018, he was awarded the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end in college football.

Hockenson was rated as a three-star recruit and the seventh-highest-rated recruit in the state of Iowa in the class of 2016 by the 247Sports.com Composite, which aggregates the ratings of the major football recruiting services.

Hockenson fully committed himself to play football only at Iowa State by joining the college’s school team. During the NFL draft in 2019, the number 87 Minnesota Vikings player was selected in the first round as the 8th overall by the Detroit Lions.

Hockenson is currently dating his girlfriend Mikala Brown. He was previously dating his high school mate who is also a model. Her name is Carley Arnold.

On November 1, 2022, the Lions traded Hockenson along with a 2023 fourth-round draft pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round draft pick.
