T.J. Hockenson is an American football player who currently plays as a tight end for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on July 3, 1997, in Chariton, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa, where he played college football.
Hockenson was selected by the Lions in the first round (eighth overall pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as a reliable pass-catcher and blocker, finishing his rookie season with 32 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns. He followed up with an even better sophomore season in 2020, recording 67 receptions for 723 yards and six touchdowns and earning a Pro Bowl selection.
