The 2023 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and the rumor mill is in full swing. Reports have suggested that the Tennessee Titans might be looking to trade away quarterback Ryan Tannehill, and many teams have been linked to the veteran signal-caller. While Titans GM Ran Carthon refused to confirm or deny the rumors, several teams are said to be interested in Tannehill’s services.
One of the potential landing spots for Tannehill is the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons signed Taylor Heinicke in free agency, but Tannehill could be an upgrade over the former Washington quarterback. Tannehill had his best season in Arthur Smith’s offense in Tennessee, and newly acquired tight end Jonnu Smith had his best year when Tannehill was his quarterback. Smith is now the Falcons’ head coach, and there’s a good chance he could get the best out of Tannehill once again.
Another team that could be interested in Tannehill is the Green Bay Packers. The Packers only have Jordan Love and Danny Etling under contract for the 2023 season, and adding a veteran quarterback like Tannehill would make sense. Tannehill could mentor Love and provide an experienced backup option in case Love struggles.
The Washington Commanders are also reportedly in the mix for Tannehill. While the team has expressed comfort with Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett, Tannehill could be an upgrade. The Titans quarterback has won 65.5 percent of his starts with Tennessee and has been to a Pro Bowl. With a roster that went 8-8-1 last year while rotating Howell, Heinicke, and Carson Wentz under center, Washington could compete with Tannehill as he is.
While the Titans haven’t confirmed whether Tannehill is on the trading block, several teams are apparently interested in the veteran quarterback. It remains to be seen where Tannehill will end up, but if he does get traded, the Falcons, Packers, and Commanders could be among his potential destinations.
