Kyler Murray, the NFL quarterback who attended Allen High School in Allen, Texas, expressed his dismay on social media following the recent mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets. Eight people, including children, lost their lives during the senseless tragedy. A 6-year-old boy, William Cho, who lost his parents and brother in the shooting, remains hospitalized.
Upon learning of a GoFundMe campaign started in Cho’s name, Murray chose to do his part by donating $15,000 to the young boy’s recovery. With the help of others, the GoFundMe campaign has raised $1.6 million in Cho’s name as of Tuesday night.
The tragedy hit home for Murray, who hails from the tight-knit community of Allen. The NFL quarterback tweeted, “This is sickening. Prayers to the mass shooting victims in Allen, Texas. If there is any way I can help those affected by this tragedy, please let me know.”
Although it cannot bring back the lives lost or change the trauma experienced by the survivors, the community’s ability to come together to support one another can make a difference. In the case of William Cho, it has provided some hope and help to a young boy who has endured unimaginable loss.
