Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has recently signed a reworked contract with the team, following a significant knee injury that ended his 2023 season prematurely.

The new deal lowers his base salary to $11.75 million with the opportunity to earn it back through incentives. This move comes as a response to concerns about Chubb’s ability to return to his previous form after multiple knee injuries and a history of significant injuries.

Chubb, who has accumulated 6,511 yards and 48 rushing touchdowns over six seasons, has been a key player for the Browns.

However, his recent injury has raised questions about his future and whether the team will retain him given his high cap number for 2024. Despite limited updates on his recovery, the Browns have chosen to protect themselves financially by offering Chubb the chance to earn back part of his salary based on his on-field performance.

In preparation for Chubb’s potential return, the Browns have bolstered their running back room by adding Nyheim Hines and D’Onta Foreman to the roster. With the uncertainty surrounding Chubb’s recovery, the team has taken measures to strengthen their backfield options, ensuring they are well-equipped in his absence.
