Ryans was later traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012. He agreed to a two-year extension in 2015, before finally retiring in 2017.

Ryans’ remuneration as San Francisco’s defensive coordinator is not known, it is believed that NFL teams offer their defensive coaches anywhere between $3.5 million and $4.5 million annually.
