The Philadelphia Eagles have made a significant move to solidify their offensive line by extending left tackle Jordan Mailata’s contract. The team recently agreed to a three-year, $66 million deal that will keep Mailata with the Eagles through 2028.

In a press conference, Mailata expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue playing for the Eagles. He mentioned his desire to be a part of the team’s culture and history, emphasizing his loyalty to the organization.

Mailata’s journey to the NFL is a unique one, as he transitioned from playing rugby in Australia to professional football in the United States. He was a participant in the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and was eventually drafted by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Despite facing back injuries in his early seasons, Mailata has become a consistent starter for the Eagles, starting in 47 games over the past three seasons. He credited his run game coordinator and offensive line coach, Jeff Stoutland, for helping him develop as a player.

With his new contract, Mailata now ranks fourth among left tackles in terms of annual salary. He is eager to embrace a leadership role within the team, especially with the retirement of veteran center Jason Kelce. Mailata expressed his excitement about returning to the team and building something special for the upcoming season.
