The Miami Dolphins have recently bolstered their defense with the addition of Teair Tart, a defensive tackle. The terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, but it is seen as a move to strengthen their defensive line.
Tart, 27, joins the Dolphins after a tumultuous 2023 season where he was ranked No. 88 on NFL.com’s Top 101 free agents list. He started his career with the Tennessee Titans but was suspended by the NFL for one game due to unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct. He was later released by the Titans and claimed by the Houston Texans, where he finished the season but was inactive for their playoff games.
The Dolphins have faced significant losses on their defense, including key players like Christian Wilkins, Jerome Baker, and Xavien Howard. With Tart’s addition, the team hopes to strengthen their defensive line alongside new faces like linebacker Jordyn Brooks, cornerback Kendall Fuller, and safety Jordan Poyer.
Tart has started 36 of the 47 games he’s played in his career, focusing on aiding the run defense. He has accumulated 2.5 career sacks, 79 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 14 QB hits. His experience and skills are expected to contribute positively to the Dolphins’ defense in the upcoming season.
