The Dallas Cowboys are on a mission to return to Super Bowl glory, and they are reportedly looking into reuniting with one of their notable running backs from the last decade, Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott, a graduate of Ohio State University, joined the Cowboys in 2016 after being drafted. He quickly became a favorite partner for quarterback Dak Prescott, with impressive yardage totals in his first few years with the team.
After spending six years in Dallas, Elliott was released and signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots. While he played in all 17 regular season games for the Patriots, his impact on the offense was not as significant as it had been with the Cowboys.
Now a free agent once again, Elliott is listening to offers from various teams, including the Cowboys. Reports from ESPN and NBC Sports suggest that both Elliott and the Cowboys’ management are open to a potential reunion.
One factor that has caught Dallas’ attention is Elliott’s productivity in the last five regular-season games with the Patriots. With Rhamondre Stevenson sidelined due to injury, Elliott stepped up and performed admirably, running for 464 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Although his efforts were not enough to keep the Patriots in playoff contention, Elliott’s performance has reignited interest from his former team.
