After spending five seasons with the Chiefs, guard Nick Allegretti has found a new home with the Commanders.

Despite his time in Kansas City, Allegretti did not have many opportunities to be a part of the starting offensive line. Now, in Washington, he is eager to compete and secure a starting role.

“I have a ton of respect for the guys in Kansas City,” Allegretti stated via the team’s website. “I enjoyed my role there, but I think I had gotten to the point in my career where I wanted to come and be a starter in Week 1. That’s my goal coming to Washington.”

In 2023, Allegretti played in all 17 games for Kansas City but only started once. He started a total of three games in 2022 and nine games in 2020.

In 2021 and 2019, he did not start at all. However, last season he got the chance to prove himself after Joe Thuney’s injury, and he impressed in key playoff games, even playing through an injury to help the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVIII.

Now, as one of the newest additions under head coach Dan Quinn, Allegretti is determined to compete and secure a spot on the O-line. Despite recent injury setbacks, he is confident in his abilities and ready to show that he can be a Day 1 starter for the Commanders.

“This was a great opportunity,” Allegretti emphasized. “I have a ton of respect for coach Quinn and what he’s been able to accomplish in his career. It looked like I had a great opportunity to come in here and compete. That’s all I wanted. I felt like a starter. I knew that I could be a Day 1 starter, and that’s what I’m here to prove.”
