Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Josh Allen recently signed a lucrative five-year, $150 million contract with the team.
However, rather than letting the big payday diminish his drive, Allen is aiming even higher. In a recent interview, Allen expressed his desire to leave a lasting legacy with the Jaguars and help elevate the franchise to new heights.
“I’m extremely blessed and honored to get this paycheck, but I still set goals for myself,” Allen shared. “Defensive Player of the Year is my next goal—winning the Super Bowl and being the MVP of it. I’m a legacy guy. I have to win the Super Bowl and be the MVP. I’m not going to stop until I achieve that. That’s motivating me. That’s bigger than money.”
Despite the impressive stats he delivered in the 2023 season, including breaking the franchise’s single-season sack record, Allen clarifies that his motivation goes beyond a contract year performance. He emphasized that his focus was on personal growth and building a legacy for his family.
“Last year was me figuring everything out,” Allen explained. “For me, it was about figuring out life. Nobody hands you a guidebook on how to navigate life. It’s about personal growth and building something for our kids. It’s special to leave a legacy.”
