Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter’s pre-draft process raised concerns among NFL teams, with some reportedly removing him completely from their draft boards.
However, ProFootballNetwork.com’s Adam Caplan reports that several teams still have Carter as their top-graded player on their draft boards. While Carter faced misdemeanor charges after two members of Georgia’s football program died in a car crash, he will not face jail time.
Carter had a weak pro day, but he may have repaired his image during private workouts with NFL teams. Some teams asked him about the car crash, and Carter believes that it could affect his draft stock.
Despite this, sources say that the Las Vegas Raiders have Carter at the top of their draft board, even though drafting him could generate a negative reaction following Henry Ruggs’ DUI felony charge. Lions General Manager Brad Holmes also expressed confidence in Carter following his in-person visit.
Carter’s agent declared that he would not visit teams without a top-10 pick, putting the Lions and Raiders in prime position to select him without making a trade.
He has also visited with the Seahawks, Falcons, Bears, and Eagles. Despite the concerns about his pre-draft process, it seems that Carter still has a chance to be selected high in the NFL draft.
