Kinlaw earned his first career sack on quarterback Taysom Hill during the 27-13 defeat to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. The squad placed Kinlaw on the reserve/COVID-19 list on November 18, 2020, and activated him on November 27.

Kinlaw intercepted a Jared Goff pass and returned it 27 yards for a score in a 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12. This was his first interception and score of his career. After his effort against the Rams, Kinlaw was awarded Pepsi Rookie of the Week.
