The New York Jets have recently unveiled their new “Legacy Collection” uniforms, paying homage to the iconic “New York Sack Exchange” era of the franchise.
The new iteration includes the classic combination of double-stripe shoulders and single-stripe pants, reminiscent of the uniforms worn during the franchise’s glory days from 1979 to 1989.
Jets chairman and owner Woody Johnson expressed that the throwback theme was a response to fan demand. “We work for the fans,” Johnson stated via the team’s official website. “They have consistently asked for us to return to our roots and we heard them. The new uniforms are explicitly designed to look and feel like the New York Jets while refreshing the club’s iconic logo – viewed by fans as our most identifiable mark.”
The “Legacy” collection features three versions: legacy green, legacy white, and legacy black. The Jets had previously debuted the legacy white jerseys last season in a game against the Bills, where they secured a victory but also suffered a setback with Aaron Rodgers sustaining a season-ending Achilles injury.
Despite the challenges faced last season, Rodgers is gearing up for the upcoming season as he joins the team for Day 1 of New York’s offseason program. With the refreshed uniforms and the return of Rodgers, Jets fans have something to look forward to as the offseason gets underway.
