Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice found himself in hot water after causing a major crash involving six vehicles in Dallas, Texas.
According to reports, Rice was driving at a speed of 119mph before the collision occurred. The incident left four people injured and Rice surrendered himself to the authorities, taking full responsibility for the crash.
After turning himself in, Rice was taken to jail and is now facing eight felony charges related to the incident. These charges include one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury. If found guilty, the 23-year-old could potentially face prison time.
Rice’s former teammate at SMU, Teddy Knox, was also involved in the crash and faces the same charges as Rice. Knox has been suspended from the university’s football program as a result. Despite the passengers in the speeding cars leaving the scene without attending to those in need of medical attention, they will not be charged by the police.
The future of Rice’s NFL career hangs in the balance as he prepares to stand trial for the charges against him. The young wide receiver had shown promise after being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 and had an impressive season, contributing significantly to the team’s success in securing their second consecutive Super Bowl title.
However, if Rice is found guilty, it could mark the end of his football career.
