Kansas City Chiefs superstar Rashee Rice could be facing jail time after being involved in a six-car collision while driving a Lamborghini. Initially, Rice and a friend were seen trying to deceive cameras by both exiting the vehicle from the passenger side, but Rice has now admitted to being the driver.
Rice’s lawyer has indicated that they expect charges to be filed by the police, as Rice was reportedly street racing at the time of the crash in Dallas, Texas. Street racing is considered a felony crime, and the severity of the charges can vary depending on whether there was any bodily harm or fatalities involved.
Although there were no fatalities in the collision, one person was taken to the hospital for treatment, which could potentially escalate the charges to a higher degree. Additionally, Rice and the other driver left the scene of the accident without waiting for the authorities, which is a felony in itself.
While marijuana was found in the car, the local prosecutors’ office has a policy of not pursuing charges for marijuana possession. However, Rice could still be facing serious legal consequences for his involvement in the street racing incident.
If found guilty, Rice could be sentenced to anywhere from two to 20 years in prison for the street racing charges, and one to 10 years for leaving the scene of an accident. Despite working with prosecutors and taking accountability for his actions, Rice will likely face consequences from the NFL under the player conduct policy.
