Former Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton was no longer a fugitive after turning himself in to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office following allegations of domestic violence.

Initially, an arrest warrant was issued for Sutton for aggravated assault – domestic violence, with the events allegedly occurring on March 7. Despite the seriousness of the accusations, Sutton had been evading law enforcement, prompting the Lions to release him.

After a week of being out of the public eye, Sutton finally surrendered himself to the authorities on April 1.

However, he was released shortly after, on his recognizance, meaning he was let go without bail under the condition that he appears in court when required.

This unexpected turn in the case came after the Office of the State Attorney decided to file a single misdemeanor charge against Sutton, as his family requested privacy to resolve their differences.

With the legal matters seemingly resolved, Sutton’s future in the NFL remains uncertain. The question now is whether the Lions will reinstate him to their roster or if another team will show interest in signing the star cornerback for the 2024 season.
