It is part of NFL Media, which also includes NFL.com, NFL Films, NFL Mobile, NFL Now, and NFL RedZone.
The network, which is dedicated to American football, broadcasts NFL games as well as NFL-related material such as analysis shows, specials, and documentaries.
The network is based in the NFL Los Angeles facility close to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and receives its global feed from Encompass Digital Media (formerly Crawford Communications) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The NFL Films building in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, serves as a supplementary East Coast facility for the network.
NFL Network is available to roughly 71,867,000 pay television homes in the United States as of February 2015 (61.7% of U.S. households with at least one television set).
What channel is NFL network? What channel is the NFL game on?
The NFL Network is aired on the following channels.
DirecTV: 212. Dish Network: 154. Verizon Fios: 88 (588 HD) Xfinity: Varies with area code.
In the 2006 season, NFL Network debuted original game broadcasts with the Run to the Playoffs, a late-season package of Thursday and Saturday night games branded as Thursday Night Football and Saturday Night Football, respectively.
Although most Saturday games were withdrawn from the package beginning with the 2008 season, all games, regardless of night, were marketed as Thursday Night Football beginning in 2009.
Thursday Night Football extended to include a weekly game from Weeks 2 through 15 (except the Kickoff Game and Thanksgiving Day, which are held by NBC), as well as one Saturday night game during Week 16. As a result, each NFL club now participates in at least one timeslot-exclusive nationally broadcast game every season.
The NFL Network telecasts, like the games broadcast by ESPN’s Monday Night Football, are also aired on a designated broadcast television station in the primary markets of the participating teams, though prior to the suspension of blackout rules in 2015, stations in the home team’s market only carried it if the televised game sold out all remaining available tickets 72 hours before the game’s start time.
